hola
I am a 26-year-old Mexican American designer based in New York City. While my project portfolio delves deeply into my creative processes, this space is about connection. Here’s a glimpse into the journey that has shaped my approach to design.
From an early age, I was captivated by visual communication. As a quiet child, creating imagery became my voice, my way of articulating emotions and ideas. Over time, this fascination evolved into a deep respect for the power of art and design to transcend words. That respect became a guiding force, leading me to the High School of Art and Design, where I began to unravel the threads of creativity and intention that shape the world around us.
New York City’s vibrant commercial landscape became my classroom. Billboards, subway ads, and television spots weren’t just passing visuals—they were lessons in persuasion and storytelling. I was drawn to the psychology behind them, the interplay of color, typography, and iconography, and their ability to shape perceptions, build communities, and create culture. This curiosity naturally deepened during my studies at the School of Visual Arts, where I immersed myself in the history of design and advertising.
What continues to fascinate me is not just the how but the why. Why do certain creative decisions resonate while others fall flat? How does the art of persuasion evolve in the face of cultural shifts and technological advances? Today, with the advent of AI, we stand at a fascinating crossroads. The way audiences are targeted and influenced is shifting dramatically, offering both challenges and opportunities for the industry.
At SVA, I was privileged to collaborate with some of the most talented designers, illustrators, photographers, and filmmakers. That environment instilled in me not just technical skill but a profound appreciation for the narrative power of design. It’s this enduring passion for storytelling and strategy that drives my work and keeps me constantly curious about what’s next.
